2012 A2 Exhibition Evening

The A2 Art Exhibition was held on a very hot Thursday 24th May evening last week. Fortunately, we managed to coax students, family and staff away from their gardens and barbeques long enough to enjoy the show. The exhibition was a welcome bit of relief following a long and stressful day with the A2 course being moderated. Thankfully, the moderator was full of praise for the work he saw, saying that some of it wouldn’t look out of place either in a gallery or at a Degree show. High praise indeed for our students! The exhibition looked fabulous and generated much comment and praise. Talking points were Michael Lowry’s ‘Bottle Collector’, Lily Stockham’s ‘Uncomfortable’ broken glass, and print stack, Josh Holbrook’s Graphics products and the beautiful portrait paintings of Emily Drury, Cat Eddison and Emily Garvey. In fact, all of the work exhibited was highly praised and the students thoroughly enjoyed basking in all the glory and attention. Art awards were given and students were clapped and cheered as they received their prizes. The prize winning the most applause was the award for being the most outspoken Art student, in other words, The Biggest Mouth prize! We encourage our students to question and challenge convention and ideas. The winner, Mona Pierov has managed this with Olympian success.  We all agree, she will go far! Many of our students are going on to take up places at University to study Fine Art, Architecture and Graphics.  Grateful thanks to everyone who took the time to come. It was lovely for our students to get so much support.
Here's a selection of the comments left by some of the visitors:
