This year, the Art Department were involved in a charity even named Mission Christmas which is created by HallamFM. There are thousands of children living in poverty at
the moment in South Yorkshire alone as the statistics show 1 in 3
children are living in poverty. Therefore, these children do not have anything to unwrap on Christmas Day which many of us take for granted.
The charity is all about each one of us buying one extra
gift at Christmas which can then be donated to children who are living in poverty: to as young as a new-born baby to as old as an 18 year old. The gifts needed to be
new and unwrapped so HallamFM they donate the appropriate gifts to the children of South Yorkshire.
The Art Department had a big decorated box downstairs so students and staff were able to donate gifts. The box filled quickly and was soon overflowing!! It was such a great response!!
On Friday 16th December (last day before the holidays) the presents were counted and there had been 73 presents donated which were given to the underprivileged
children! This was amazing and we would like to thank everyone for the donations and for
spreading the word!
The Art Students were also amazing toward this as
they were very positive toward the mission!
We are planning on continuing this event each year - thank you once again to everyone involved.
