Sheffield Print Fair 2019 | TRAC

This year we were once again lucky enough to be accepted for a stall at this years Sheffield Print Fair at St Mary's Church. The fair ran from 10am-4pm and saw stalls from 42 artists and galleries from across the region come together for a lovely day of buying and selling. This year was the 7th annual Print Fair run by James Green and Suzi Thompson.

We had a really successful day selling products from TRAC and chatting to all the visitors that came and looked at our stall. It is really wonderful to see how many people are eager to support the department and the colleges chosen charity, even if it's just with a card or a badge. Speaking of which, the badge maker was a huge success! So many people drew their own badges and made them on the badge maker, which was particularly a hit with the young children that came to the fair! Definitely a good investment for the department!

Later on in the day we were joined by Brad, Jess, Amelia and Emily who did a fantastic job manning the stall, and also got the chance to look round at all the work on show as well as have a chat with James and Suzi. Thank you so much for coming folks!

All in all we had a really fantastic day, and managed to make £111 all together! Profits will be split between the department and the colleges nominated charity.

Riverdale Grange Summer Fair | TRAC

What a chilly yet inspiring day on Saturday 7th September at Riverdale Grange in Sheffield! We were invited to set up a stall by our good friends at Riverdale Grange to help raise money for the clinic by promoting and selling products and prints that have been created by our students in-house. This will be our third year that we have attended the Summer Fayre at Riverdale and each year we are amazed by their dedication and care. There were a  number of people who attended the fayre and highly praised the work we were selling as they bought a range of our hand printed cards, tags, cushions and prints. Mia Furniss, an A2 graphics student from last year, had her designs make an appearance on the other stalls that were set up by the staff at Riverdale, as they had collaborated together in a working brief last year and hand-printed their own t-shirts using Mia’s design. They looked fantastic!! And also received a lot of interest as people were ordering sizes and specific colours to be made in. Hopefully we will see them again soon for further workshops and collaborations!

Magna Christmas Family Fair and Stall in College | TRAC

Over December we have done 3 days worth of TRAC stalls, two of which we spent at Magna for their Christmas Family Fair, and the other we set up in college to sell to staff and students.

James and Laura both came and helped out at the Magna Christmas Family Fair on the 24th and 25th of December. This was a great place to show our goods off to the public, we even had a visit from the Major of Rotherham!

We then had a stall in college on the 14th of December. Last year on Christmas Jumper Day we ran a TRAC stall in college and raised £114 overall towards the department and the colleges nominated charity. As this was such a success we decided to do this again this year! And so last Friday Tom and Laura set up the stall ready to sell our goods to the college staff and students. Thank you to James, Bushra, Amber and Chloe for manning this throughout the day for us, until we eventually packed up around 1.30. We then moved some of the cards, notebooks and gift tags into the LRC so we could hopefully raise some more money during the last week of term.

Putting together the sales of Magna and the stall in college we raised a total of....

£105!

As always the profits will be split between the department and the colleges nominated charity which is currently the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust. Thank you to everyone who supported our TRAC initiative by buying some of our products, and thank you obviously to all our lovely students who helped run this!

Sheffield Print Fair! | TRAC

This year was the 6th annual Sheffield Print Fair at St Mary's Church on Bramall Lane, and this year we were lucky enough to get ourselves a stall amongst some spectacular local printmakers and artists! This was our second major stall outside of college so we really wanted to impress! Back in September we called out for any students who wanted to get involved with TRAC, and managed to gather together a bunch of lovely students to help us prepare for the stall. This involved designing, printing, packaging and organising our stock ready for the big day.

It wasn't long until the 10th of November came around and Sarah and Patience were arriving at St Marys bright and early ready to set up the stall. We got a gorgeous spot in the front room right next to the beautiful stained glass window, and we were surrounded by some truly amazing work! Our splendid volunteers James, Bushra, Laura and Tom soon arrived to help us sell our TRAC products to the 1,000+ visitors that were attending the fair that day.

By the end of the day we made a super £187! Taking away production costs and the cost of the stall this still meant £70 overall profit, which we have donated 50% of to the colleges nominated charity. We're going to aim even higher next time and will hopefully be able to make an even larger contribution after the upcoming Magna Christmas Family Fayre on the 24th and 25th of November!

Overall it was a really wonderful day and we can't wait to do it all again in a few weeks!

TRAC Christmas Stalls | Preparation

Last Tuesday we had our first TRAC meeting of the year with both first years and second years attending and wanting to get involved with Thomas Rotherham Arts Collective! We have two stalls coming up in November, the Sheffield Print Fair at St Marys in Sheffield, and the Christmas Family Fayre at Magna, so we need to get cracking designing, print and packaging products! We had a very successful meeting with James, Amber, Chloe, Laura, Bushra, Sophie, Caleb, Deim and Mod:

Following this, we set up some screens to print over E block and during lunchtime today, where we editioned some of ex graphics student Sam Mangham-Ward's Sheffield prints, as well as some cards with some of ex-student Shannon Marriot's designs. We made a great start with stock taking and getting products printed! What a great start!

Addams Family Musical | College Production 2018

Here in art we love a college production! And like to get involved with performing arts to help in any way we can. This year was The Addams Family Musical, so we decided to create an edition of unique darkroom prints (following the success of last years Les Mis screen prints) and programmes to sell as keepsakes during the evenings of the production. One of our lovely A2 photography students Ally Boldan volunteered to take headshots of each cast member and edited them for us ready to use on our print design. Once we had this printed out on an acetate, we opened it up to any students who wanted to have a go creating an exciting print for us in the darkroom (thank you Chloe Porter for doing some of these for us!).Our PGCE student Jodie and ex-student Nicole then packaged these up in frames and cello bags with a variety of mounts - including wallpaper! - and they were then all ready to be sold.

We did really well over the 3 evenings, and raised a wonderful....... £81.08 profit! £40 of this will be donated to the colleges nominated charity Teenage Cancer Trust, so thank you to all the staff who helped in selling these, and everyone who bought them.

Well done to our 1st prize raffle winner Chrissy! We hope you enjoy the chocolates :)
We also decided to give a second raffle prize since we had a few prints left over, so another well done to Nat who has won a mounted print of her choice!
