Exhibition and Awards Evening 2017

As we come to the end of the academic year, we gave our A2's a warm send off with the traditional exhibition evening. As always, our exhibition evenings are so important in celebrating 2 years of very hard work by our students, and gives us a chance to congratulate all of them and wish them well in whatever endeavors they go on to.

To see a video showing us put up the exhibition and the finished product, head over to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-iUnd7wYyU

See below a word from our art team and photographs of a truly joyous evening. (Thank you to Steve Pidd for some lovely photos!)

'This year has been a year of great change. This year is the first to be assessed for the new linear qualification. The students themselves have had many new challenges - a new separately assessed written essay and new assessment levels.
Internally there have been many changes - the departure of the much loved Bev, the temporary but great influence of Marilyn and the new skills and exuberance brought by Abi and Patience. And of course the ever present skills and experience of Lyn and Sarah. The influence of all members of staff, new and old, can be seen in the exhibition. We have also become part of the newly formed ‘VAPAM’ department, and we are so grateful for the support of our new team and excited to see where we can all go!
We always seem to be lucky with our students, however this year we seem to have had a cohort of not just talented and ambitious students, but kind, thoughtful and all round good eggs. We are excited by their work and incredibly proud of all their diligence, determination and enthusiasm. There is work showing outstanding skill, thought and risk. We hope you are as impressed by their achievements as we have been!'

Art Awards 2017

Every year we wish we could give every single one of our students an award for their tremendous effort and beautiful work throughout the year - but with the growing amount of students I'm afraid Patience's hand would begin to ache with all the screenprinted awards notebooks she would have to print! Charlie Yates, Megan Strutt, Matilda Todd, Leah May, Briony Canning, Molly Abdy, Riannon Davies and Nicole Scarfe collaborated to create this years exhibition prints that were sold on the evening. These were sold for £12 for an A3 frame and £8 for an A4, with profits split between the college charity and the department. We also raffled off a special print, but are still unsure who won!
