Jenny Betts

University: Newcastle University

Course:  Architecture

A2 Fine Art

Straight to university

Fine art helped me an unbelievable lot, especially when we get fine art lecturers in and get told to do experimental drawings of a space and draw our feelings towards it. The experimentation that we did during A level prepared me a lot, compared to others who had just come straight from A level courses which werent art (or just not as good as TRC haha - thank you Bev and Sarah). Theres a lot of observational drawing involved in my course - especially in the first year, but theres also lots of technical drawing involved as well, so get used to different line weights, its the difference between a fail and pass. Theres also a lot of good old fashioned model making, which means were still looking in skips - that skill never leaves.

I would love to have my name stamped over loads of important buildings and structures and basically be the next Norman Foster whilst having all my structures be completely eco friendly and sustainable and save the planet. Aim high!

First project I handed in - Measured drawings

Non-life drawing class

VERY rough first model in second project, (I would show you the slightly more impressive finished version however Im not there yet)
