Alexandre Farto- Painter/ Graffitti Artist

Farto (who also works under the psyeudonym 'Vhils') is a contemporary urban artist working in London.
His work largely depects people, specifically faces, created in many different ways such as large installation graffitti pieces on sides of buildings, faces etched into sheets of scrap metal, graffitti paintings created on old billboards, paintings on pieces of furniture. The overall theme of his work is the use of waste materials, spaces, objects found around the urban landscape to create art.

Karin Lindholm- Photographer

Lindholm is a contemporary photographer whose work explores the world of unconventional portraiture.
Her images are self-portraits. She sets the camera up to take pictures of her own face as she brutally distorts and manipulates it with her hands.

Su Blackwell- Paper Art/ Illustrator/ Sculptor

Blackwell is a contemporary artist who works in the medium of paper. She uses pages of books to make 3D dioramas which she lights like little theatre sets, usually around the theme of fairy tales and folklore. The choice of paper and the theme of fairy tales communicates the fragility and vulnerability of childhood, and the subdued tones of the text covered paper create a melancholy atmosphere.

Her work has been so well received that she has branched out into other projects, being approached to create set designs for stage, window installations for global fashion brands and magazines and installation pieces for museums and heritage sites.

Christy Lee Rogers- Photographer

Christy Lee Rogers is a contemporary photographer currently based in Hawaii. Her work consists of creating dynamic scenes of people swirling in fabric under water. She takes all her pictures at night so that light only appears where she wants it to, creating a dynamic constrast between vivid brightness and deep darkness. Non of her pictures undergo computer manipulation after the shoot.

Daniela Gullotta- Painting/Mixed Media

Gullotta is a contemporary artist whose work depicts large empty interiors. Her intention is to draw the viewer's attention to the dramatic nature of space.

The technique she uses to create these is to print grey scale photographs onto a mixture of surfaces including wood and slate using liquid emulsion, then begin manipulating these by adding lines and tone by hand in paint. She also collages several different photos of the same subject into one image, creating an altered perspective.

Photographing Work Guidelines

A badly taken photograph can detract from the quality of a good piece of art- so when it comes to presenting pictures of your work to examiners, and in university portfolios, making sure you have excellent photographs is important.
